چکیده

The aim of the present work was to study bioactivity lemon, orange, and grapefruit peel essential oils (EOs) obtained from Argentinian plantations on different agronomically important insect fungal species. chemical profile EOs determined by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS); insecticidal activity studied through contact fumigant assays; antifungal evaluated with tests. Orange EO most effective against Rhyzopertha dominica, Oryzaephilus spp. Sitophilus granarius in fumigation tests (LC50= 89.39, 94.50, 163.64 µL/L air, respectively); while effect species-dependent toxicity assays. Regarding activity, Rhizoctonia solanii more susceptible than Sclerotium rolfsii tested EOs, lemon Industry 1 orange being toxic (MIC=10.77 µL/plate 11.02 µL/plate, respectively). Conversely, S. strongly inhibited 2 (MIC= 52.40 µL/plate). Besides limonene, other compounds that could be responsible for these bioactivities were: linalool, carvone, ?-pinene, ?-pinene, ?-myrcene, ?-terpineol, terpinen-4-ol, limonene oxide, ?-phellandrene, ?-terpinene, sabinene, neral, neryl acetate, ?-caryophyllene p-cymene. Citrus can used pests, contributing valorization citrus residues.

Essential Oils and Antifungal Activity

Since ancient times, folk medicine and agro-food science have benefitted from the use of plant derivatives, such as essential oils, to combat different diseases, as well as to preserve food. In Nature, essential oils play a fundamental role in protecting the plant from biotic and abiotic attacks to which it may be subjected. Many researchers have analyzed in detail the modes of action of essent...
